Production and application of explanatory videos in education
Take the opportunity to modernize your teaching methods and provide students with an innovative learning experience!
Explanatory videos have taken on an increasingly important role in education in recent years. They are an effective method for conveying complex concepts and topics to learners in an understandable way.
In this seminar, participants will learn about different methods in this context. Extensive technical equipment will be made available on site and will help to directly try out different application possibilities. At the same time, participants learn how to produce ad hoc explanatory videos without complex technology and how to use them in their own lessons (across subjects, types of schools and grade level).
Advantages of explainer videos in the classroom include:
Visualization of complex content: Explainer videos use images, diagrams, animations, and graphics to make abstract concepts more tangible. This facilitates students' understanding and ability to remember.
Time and resource efficiency: Once created, explainer videos can be reused in different classes and school years. This saves time for teachers and enables efficient use of educational materials.
Customization: Teachers can customize explainer videos to meet the needs of their students. They can add additional explanations or exercises to address different learning speeds and styles.
Student engagement: Creating your own explainer videos can help students reinforce what they've learned and check their understanding. They can get creative and get involved in the classroom.
Working with digital media: Explainer videos provide a multimedia learning experience and give the opportunity for personalization and interactivity. This makes it easier for students to access learning resources and encourages their active participation in the learning process.
What you will learn:
In this seminar, participants will delve into the multifaceted topic of explainer videos in the classroom and their potential applications in intercultural and educational contexts.
Our main objectives are:
Master the basics and theory: Learn the basics of how explainer videos can be usefully incorporated into lessons, which forms, methods and approaches are ideal for the subject you teach and how your lessons can best benefit from them.
Practical implementation: We will introduce you to various possible tools, apps and technology (including cameras, green screen), but also how you can easily produce explainer videos for your lessons without a lot of technical equipment (and with DIY, among other things).
Sample uses of explainer videos in a school context:
Explaining difficult concepts: Explainer videos can be used to clearly explain difficult concepts in math, science, or other subjects. Teachers can simplify complicated content and help students understand it better.
Preparing for exams: Before important exams, teachers can create explainer videos that cover relevant topics and questions. Learners can use these videos as an additional resource to prepare specifically.
Encourage self-directed learning: Explainer videos allow learners to learn at their own pace. They can pause, replay, and access the videos as needed at a time that is convenient for them.
Foreign language teaching: Teachers can use explainer videos to teach grammar rules, pronunciation, or cultural aspects of the target language. They can also use native speakers to provide authentic pronunciation examples.
History and social studies classes: Explainer videos are a great way to illustrate historical events, political systems, or social structures. Animated videos or documentaries can clarify historical contexts.
Intercultural projects: Use to facilitate understanding of other cultures. Explainer videos can be used to introduce oneself, one's own school or country in order to promote intercultural dialogue. On the other hand, corresponding short contributions can be used to succinctly formulate objectives of intercultural (exchange) projects and to communicate them efficiently to different groups.
Overall, integrating explainer videos into the curriculum offers an engaging way to promote learning. It allows students to understand complex issues or even participate in the learning process themselves, develop key skills, and have fun in the process. This makes explainer videos a valuable addition to the modern education system.
